Join a company where people truly believe in what they’re doing! Pick n Pay is seeking dedicated Shelfpackers to ensure products are packed and merchandised according to set standards while maintaining excellent hygiene, safety, and housekeeping practices in our store environment.
This role is physically demanding and requires energy, attention to detail, and a customer-focused mindset.
Key Responsibilities

Stack and store products safely and tidily

Merchandise products in line with company standards

Check product quality, rotate stock, and remove expired items

Prevent wastage, shrinkage, and damages
-
Check and maintain correct temperatures (cold chain, if applicable)

Maintain security procedures

Operate and clean equipment according to standards

Respond courteously to customer queries

Promote products to customers
-
Offload trucks as required

Maintain high standards of housekeeping and hygiene

Strong customer service orientation and ability to see situations from the customer’s perspective

Excellent communication skills: active listening, clear speaking, and appropriate responses

A sense of urgency and efficiency in completing tasks quickly and accurately

Consistency in performing routine tasks to a high standard

Willingness to develop skills and grow professionally

Flexibility and ability to be multi-skilled

Willingness to work shifts as needed for operational demands
Minimum Requirements
• Grade 12 / Matric
• 2-3 years’ retail experience (advantageous)
• Ability to communicate effectively in English
• Must successfully complete required assessments and competency-based interviews
• Flexibility to be transferred between stores if necessary
• Willingness to undergo credit and criminal checks (consent required)
• Must hold a valid South African ID (attach a copy to your application)
• Must live near Pick n Pay Steeledale Hyper
