About the Opportunity

Sanlam Life and Savings (SLS), part of the Sanlam Group, is focused on serving retail and corporate clients across South Africa. The SLS Office provides strategic direction, coordination, and governance oversight, enabling the business to meet its objectives.

An exciting opportunity exists for a Compliance Graduate Intern to join the centralised Sanlam Life and Savings Compliance function. In this role, you’ll gain hands-on experience supporting compliance activities and assurance processes within the Retail Mass cluster, while receiving mentorship and guidance from experienced compliance officers.

Key Responsibilities

As a Compliance Graduate Intern, you will:

Conduct research and gather information on new and existing regulations impacting the financial services industry
Assist in monitoring compliance with applicable regulations and internal requirements
Provide administrative support for regulatory training initiatives
Assist in drafting compliance risk management plans on the Group Compliance Management System
Liaise with internal stakeholders to facilitate compliance meetings, training sessions, or workshops
Support incident reporting processes to ensure timely escalation of compliance risks and incidents

Minimum Requirements

• South African citizen, aged between 18 and 35
• Must not have participated previously in another INSETA Internship funded programme

Qualifications

✅ LLB degree or a commercial degree

Skills & Competencies

Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Basic understanding of regulatory requirements in the insurance industry (advantageous, but not required)
Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to plan and prioritize work effectively
A proactive approach and high level of enthusiasm for learning
Focused on continuous improvement and efficiency
