About the Opportunity
Sanlam Life and Savings (SLS), part of the Sanlam Group, is dedicated to serving retail and corporate clients in South Africa. The SLS Office provides strategic direction, coordination, and governance oversight to support business objectives.
An exciting opportunity exists for a Legal Services Graduate Intern to join the SLS Legal Services team. In this role, you’ll gain practical legal experience, working closely with experienced legal advisors who will mentor and guide you during your internship period.
Key Responsibilities
As a Legal Services Graduate Intern, you will:

Provide timely, practical, and relevant legal advice to various business units

Analyse disputes and contribute to developing, negotiating, and implementing solutions
-
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of developments in relevant areas of law and share insights with the team

Draft and review legal agreements, including:
-
Binders
-
Outsourcing agreements
-
Intermediary agreements
-
Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
-
Re-insurance agreements
-
Data sharing agreements
-
Non-disclosure agreements (NDAs)
-
Joint venture agreements
-
Cross-border transactional agreements
-
-
Conduct legal research and prepare opinions as required
-
Prepare impact analyses of regulatory changes affecting the business
-
Assist with litigation and dispute resolution matters
-
Facilitate engagement with external legal counsel when necessary
Minimum Requirements
• South African citizen, aged between 18 and 35
• Must not have participated previously in another INSETA Internship funded programme
Qualifications
• Completed Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Master of Laws (LLM) degree
