About the Opportunity

Sanlam Life and Savings (SLS), a division of the Sanlam Group, is dedicated to serving retail and corporate clients in South Africa. The SLS Office provides strategic direction, coordination, and governance oversight to support business objectives and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

An exciting opportunity exists for a Compliance Graduate Intern to join the centralised Sanlam Life and Savings Compliance function. In this role, you’ll gain valuable practical experience supporting compliance assurance processes across Sanlam’s Corporate, Retail Mass, and Fintech clusters, under the mentorship and guidance of experienced compliance officers.

Key Responsibilities

As a Compliance Graduate Intern, you will:

Conduct research and gather information on new and existing regulations affecting the financial services industry
Assist with monitoring compliance with applicable laws and internal policies
Provide administrative support for regulatory training initiatives
Assist in drafting compliance risk management plans using the Group Compliance Management System
Liaise with internal stakeholders to support compliance meetings, training sessions, or workshops
Support incident reporting to ensure timely escalation of compliance risks and incidents

Minimum Requirements

• South African citizen, aged between 18 and 35
• Must not have previously participated in another INSETA Internship funded programme

Qualifications

• Completed Legal or Commercial degree

Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Basic understanding of regulatory requirements in the insurance industry (advantageous, but not essential)
Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
