About the Opportunity

Sanlam Life and Savings (SLS), part of the Sanlam Group, focuses on serving retail and corporate clients across South Africa. The SLS Office provides strategic direction, coordination, and governance oversight, supporting business objectives and compliance with regulatory standards.

An exciting opportunity exists for an Employee Relations Graduate Intern to join the SLS Human Capital team. In this role, you’ll gain practical exposure to labour law, industrial relations, and case management, working under the guidance of experienced professionals.

 

Key Responsibilities

As an Employee Relations Graduate Intern, you will:

  • Assist with case management processes for CCMA and Labour Court matters

  • Draft documents, pleadings, and correspondence for internal and external stakeholders

  • Support the review and updating of employment law-related policies and procedures

  • Prepare reports and compile statistics related to industrial relations cases as requested by management

  • Assist in preparing documentation for litigation matters

  • Conduct legal research on employment law topics

  • Maintain records, filing systems, and databases for case management

 

Minimum Requirements

• South African citizen, aged between 18 and 35
• Must not have previously participated in another INSETA Internship funded programme

 

Qualifications

• LLB degree with Advanced Labour Law as a subject

  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)

  • Legal research experience and analytical thinking

  • Strong drafting and communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
