About the Role
The Agricultural Research Council – Animal Production (ARC-AP) is seeking motivated, skilled, and dynamic individuals to join its team as interns in the Kaonafatso ya Dikgomo – Beef Recording and Improvement Scheme. This programme aims to support smallholder farmers by improving beef production through recording services, data collection, and training initiatives.
Key Responsibilities

Deliver animal recording and improvement services to smallholder farmers.

Assist with recruiting farmers and training them, as well as project teams, under the Kaonafatso ya Dikgomo Beef Recording and Improvement Scheme.

Conduct farm visits to support beef recording and improvement activities.

Train new participants in various phases of beef improvement programmes.

Take part in focus group sessions and meetings with farmers, teams, or individuals.

Gather data from multiple sources to build a database capturing herd statistics and livestock performance for resource-poor farmers, and generate performance indicators.

Contribute as part of the provincial farmer support team to implement the project’s goals.

Prepare and submit monthly progress reports.
Description :
Minimum Requirements
-
National Diploma in Animal Production.
-
Must be self-motivated and willing to travel to farms and villages.
-
Strong interpersonal and human relations skills.

Good communication skills (both written and verbal).
Additional Information

Important: Applicants must choose only one province where they wish to be placed.

Competitive remuneration will be offered in line with the responsibilities and level of the position.

Appointments are subject to a positive security clearance.
-
Preference will be given to candidates from designated groups in line with the ARC Employment Equity Plan.

Permanent appointments include a six-month probation period.

Non-South African citizens must attach certified copies of work permits and provide the names and details of three traceable referees.

Foreign qualifications must be accompanied by a SAQA evaluation report.
