About the Role
The Northern Cape Department of Health invites applications for Pharmacy Intern positions across several hospitals in the province. This internship offers recent graduates an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience under the supervision of qualified pharmacists and to contribute to quality healthcare service delivery.
Preference will be given to Northern Cape bursary holders and applicants residing in the Northern Cape.
Key Responsibilities

Perform all duties under the direct supervision of a registered Pharmacist.

Adhere to departmental policies, procedures, and expenditure controls.

Assist with the training, education, and development of pharmacy staff and other healthcare workers.

Promote public health initiatives as part of pharmaceutical services.

Manage the supply of medicines to ensure safe and efficient procurement, storage, and distribution of pharmaceuticals.

Demonstrate leadership by taking initiative in problem-solving.

Provide pharmaceutical care, including evaluating prescriptions, dispensing medication, and counselling patients to promote compliance and therapeutic success.

Maintain quality management practices by complying with National Core Standards, Occupational Health and Safety regulations, and Good Pharmacy Practices.
Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy accredited by the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).

Must be eligible for registration and registered as a Pharmacist Intern with the SAPC before starting duties.

Ability to work accurately under pressure while maintaining high professional standards.

Computer literacy.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Good understanding of relevant pharmacy legislation and health policies at both national and provincial levels

Candidates may only assume duty after full registration as a Pharmacist Intern is confirmed.
