About the Programme

The Mpumalanga Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Land and Environmental Affairs invites applications from unemployed South African graduates for its 24-month Environmental Impact Assessment Internship Programme.

This internship offers practical work experience in environmental management and environmental impact assessments, helping graduates build valuable skills for a career in environmental sciences. Applicants must not have participated in any previous internship programme.

The Department aims to promote representivity in terms of race, gender, and disability. Persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

Interns will:

Assist in conducting environmental impact assessments for development projects.
Help review environmental reports and related documentation.
Participate in fieldwork to collect environmental data.
Support the preparation of reports and presentations on environmental findings.
Contribute to monitoring and compliance activities related to environmental legislation.
Assist in community engagement processes related to environmental projects.
Provide administrative support for environmental management tasks.

Minimum Requirements

Degree in Environmental Management or Natural Sciences or an equivalent qualification.
Interest in environmental protection and sustainability.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Computer literacy, particularly in MS Office applications.
