About the Programme

The Mpumalanga Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Land and Environmental Affairs is offering a 24-month Pollution and Waste Management Internship Programme to unemployed South African graduates.

This internship provides practical experience in pollution control, waste management, and environmental sustainability practices. Applicants must not have participated in any previous internship programme.

The Department is committed to promoting diversity and encourages applications from women and persons with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Interns will:

Assist in monitoring and controlling pollution and waste within the district.
Help enforce waste management legislation and compliance.
Participate in community awareness and cleanup initiatives.
Assist with data collection, reporting, and record-keeping related to waste and pollution.
Support the implementation of environmental policies and waste minimization strategies.
Provide admin support to the environmental team.

Minimum Requirements

Degree in Environmental Management or an equivalent qualification.
Strong interest in pollution prevention and sustainable practices.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, etc.).
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
