About the Programme

The Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Land and Environmental Affairs in Mpumalanga is offering a 2-year Risk Management Internship opportunity for unemployed South African graduates.

This programme provides practical exposure to enterprise risk management, internal controls, and compliance processes in the public sector. It is ideal for candidates interested in building a career in public sector governance, audit, or compliance.

Note: Applicants must not have previously participated in any internship programme.

Key Responsibilities

As a Risk Management Intern, you will:

Assist with the identification and assessment of organisational risks.
Help implement risk mitigation strategies and monitor risk registers.
Support internal control checks and reporting processes.
Contribute to compliance assessments and internal audit support.
Participate in departmental risk meetings and workshops.
Assist in drafting reports, presentations, and documentation for risk-related activities.

Minimum Requirements

A Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in:
- Risk Management
- Internal Auditing
- Finance
- Public Administration or a related field
Strong analytical and organisational skills
Attention to detail and accuracy
Good written and verbal communication
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
