About the Programme

The Mpumalanga Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Land and Environmental Affairs (DARDLEA) is offering a 24-month Veterinary Services Internship aimed at unemployed South African graduates.

This programme is designed to provide hands-on experience in animal health, disease control, and veterinary public health practices. Applicants must not have previously participated in any internship programme.

This opportunity is ideal for graduates looking to enter the animal health or veterinary services field.

Key Responsibilities

As an intern, you will:

Assist with veterinary inspections and vaccinations
Help monitor livestock health and report disease outbreaks
Provide support in the registration and inspection of animal facilities
Assist in the delivery of animal health campaigns and awareness programmes
Maintain accurate veterinary service records and databases
Support veterinary staff in admin and fieldwork duties

Minimum Requirements

A National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in:
- Animal Production
- Animal Health
- Veterinary Technology
- Veterinary Science or a related qualification
Basic understanding of animal care and public health principles
Good communication skills
Computer literacy (MS Office)
A valid driver’s license will be an added advantage
