About the Programme

This 2-year internship opportunity offers valuable workplace experience to unemployed South African graduates in the field of communications and media relations.

Interns will gain practical skills in media liaison, public relations, photography, content creation, and internal communication activities within the Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Land and Environmental Affairs.

Perfect for recent graduates who want to work in government communications.
Note: Candidates who have previously completed an internship are not eligible.

Key Responsibilities

As a Communications Intern, you will:

Assist with media relations and issuing press statements
Capture departmental events and activities through photography and video
Help write and edit articles for internal newsletters and public platforms
Support communication campaigns and awareness events
Maintain communication databases and update content
Assist in organizing public engagements and media briefings
Draft internal memos and correspondence related to communication activities

Minimum Requirements

A National Diploma or Degree in:
- Communications
- Journalism
- Public Relations
- Media Studies or a related field
Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
Ability to use basic photo or video editing tools is an advantage
Computer literacy (MS Office)
