About the Programme
eThekwini Municipality invites applications for its Work Experience Programme 2025/2026, offering promising Life Science graduates an opportunity to gain hands-on experience and boost their employability in real-world professional settings.
This structured programme is designed for individuals with no prior work experience and aims to bridge the gap between academic studies and the world of work. Successful applicants will be placed in roles where they can apply their scientific knowledge in practical contexts and contribute meaningfully to the city's development.
Fields of Study Considered
Applicants must hold qualifications in one of the following Life Science disciplines:

Microbiology

Analytical Chemistry
-
Biotechnology / Biomedical Technology

Zoology
-
Botany
-
Hydrology
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for this opportunity, applicants must:

Be a South African citizen
-
Hold a recognized qualification or an N6 Certificate for TVET students pursuing Work Integrated Learning (WIL) for Nated Diploma recognition

Ensure their qualifications are not older than five years
-
Have no prior participation in any Government or Private Sector Work Experience / Internship / In-service / WIL programme of 12 months or longer

Demonstrate a strong interest in scientific and environmental work
