About the Opportunity

eThekwini Municipality invites applications for its Work Experience Programme 2025/2026, offering exciting opportunities for graduates with no previous work experience to gain essential skills and practical exposure across various disciplines in the Humanities field.

This programme aims to empower young professionals through structured workplace learning, contributing to skills development, employability, and career growth in both public service and private sectors. It’s an excellent chance to transform academic knowledge into real-world experience while contributing meaningfully to community development projects within the Municipality’s Corporate and Human Capital Cluster.

 

Fields of Study Considered

Applications are invited from graduates who hold qualifications in the following disciplines:

  • Social Work

  • Social Sciences

  • Sociology

  • Archaeology

  • Community Development

  • Development Studies

  • Project Management

  • Training and Development

  • Political Science

  • International Relations

  • Psychology

  • Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Public Policy / Policy Development

  • History

  • Housing

  • Anthropology

  • Enrolled Nursing / Nursing Science

 

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered, applicants must:

  • Be South African citizens.

  • Have completed a recognized qualification or, for TVET students, hold an N6 qualification seeking Work Integrated Learning (WIL) for Nated Diploma recognition.

  • Ensure qualifications are not older than five years.

  • Have no prior participation in government or private sector Work Experience / Internship / In-service / WIL programmes lasting 12 months or longer.

  • Be passionate and committed to gaining practical experience and contributing to public service.
